Terms of Service

Welcome to DinnerClue. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website at dinnerclue.app and, when launched, our mobile app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

About the Service

DinnerClue is a recipe recommendation service. We use software, including AI models, to suggest recipes based on your preferences. The Service is currently in pre-launch (a website where you can sign up for our launch notification list). The mobile app is in development and will be available on iPhone in due course.

Your account

Some features require an account, which you create using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of the account credentials you use to sign in (your Apple ID or Google account)
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate information when asked (e.g., during onboarding)

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the Service or its security
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute recipes, content, or any other parts of the Service without permission
• Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract our source code, models, or proprietary methods
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service except via interfaces we explicitly provide

Recipes: important disclaimer

Specifically:

• Allergens. While we filter recipes based on the allergies you tell us about, you must always verify ingredients yourself before cooking. Recipes can contain hidden allergens (for example, anchovies in Worcestershire sauce, dairy in stock cubes). We do not guarantee that a recipe is free from any specific allergen.
• Food safety. Cooking times and temperatures in recipes are guidelines. You are responsible for ensuring food is cooked safely, particularly meat, poultry, fish, and eggs. Follow standard food safety practices (UK Food Standards Agency guidance is a good starting point).
• Dietary advice. The Service does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. If you have medical conditions, dietary requirements, or are pregnant, breastfeeding, or caring for young children, consult a qualified professional.
• Recipe accuracy. Recipes come from third-party sources or our own editorial process. We do our best to filter for quality but do not guarantee that any recipe will turn out as expected.

By using the Service, you accept these risks and acknowledge that we are not liable for the outcome of any meal you cook based on a suggestion.

Our intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, brand, copy, and proprietary algorithms, is owned by DinnerClue. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You may not copy, reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

Recipes themselves are typically attributed to their original source (e.g., a publisher or our editorial team). The recipe text remains the property of its original owner, used by us under the terms of our licensing agreements.

Your content

Some features (e.g., shopping list contents, recipe ratings, notes) involve content you provide. You retain ownership of this content. By providing it, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and use it solely to operate and improve the Service for you.

We do not publicly share your content with other users.

Subscriptions and payments (when applicable)

When the app launches, we will offer paid subscription tiers. Subscriptions are billed through the App Store. Refunds are handled according to Apple's App Store refund policy. You can cancel a subscription at any time through your App Store settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Service availability and changes

We do our best to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time. We will give reasonable notice of any material change that affects paying subscribers.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account from within the app (when launched) or by emailing hello@dinnerclue.app.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that harms us or other users. We will give reasonable notice except in cases of serious or repeated breach.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, except as required by UK law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages
• Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
• Any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service
• Any damages arising from cooking, eating, or otherwise acting on recipes suggested by the Service

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from the Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you've subscribed) and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
